Passionflower pruning

Does anyone know if the passion flower can be pruned for winter.

I Had a passion flower at my previous home, it grew really fast! I used to prune it throughout the Summer and in the Autumn and Spring, just to stop it taking over everything!! It didn't seem to do it any harm at all, but you could check on the www.crocus.co.uk website for the correct time to prune, the site gives loads of advice, and should be of help
