//But since neither are, I believe, convicted of any offence, then reasons not to should not include any Mccarthy-ist judgement based on rumours and assumptions.//

Polanski is only unconvicted because he did a runner (Allen is a completely different case, I concede). My only point is that if the beeb have them on a banned list, why would they have a work by a confessed paedophile/animal abuser on their property? Seems a tad on the two-faced side.
I don't think they are banned, I think their work frightens the horses, so the Beeb leave that kind of thing to those commercial johnnies.

Since I don;t think they are on a 'banned' list, it would seem that there is no conflict in the BBC's position.

As to them having a work by a self confessed abuser - perhaps they adopt the same attitude that I do, and separate the art from the artist?

I have no idea, I simply float the suggestion for any comments.

I'll make one to start us off - I don't think the BBC are in a position to adopt that position without making it very clear very loudly that it is their position.

I can, because I am a private citizen with no power to influence anyone either way - they can't because they are the compete opposite in every sense - and publicly funded.
