I can sympathise with Bono not liking his voice.

I have been listening to my voice on radio, on the internet, and on tape for a lot longer than he has, and I have never learned even to feel comfortable with it, never mind like it.
They are ok
Massive disappointment live though
Saw them at the wrong time
Everything up to and including the Joshua Tree was good
After that…. Meh
I'm the opposite. I didn't used to like them much but they have grown on me. I enjoy watching the video and listening to The Sweetest Thing
Bono and Sting appearing at the Kelvin Hall. End of performance but before encores. Bono appears, leans into the mike and begins to clap slowly - a minute and a half and then he speaks into the mike, "Every time I clap, a youngster in Africa dies of AIDs or starvation. We really need to do something and straight away."

A Weegie voice from the 4th row or thereabouts, "Wer, stapp feckin'' clappin then."
I love U2’s music and Bono’s voice but can’t bear his sanctimonious claptrap.

I used to try to look like him when he had the long mullet, flowy shirts and tight black jeans.
Easy to be cynical about U2 but I remember putting The Joshua Tree on during a long drive with an old boy who didn't know them, back in the late eighties, and the first three tracks were:

1) Where the Streets Have No Name
2) I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
3) With or Without You

During the third track he said "Is this a greatest hits album?" and was amazed to discover that, no, it was just their latest release. Quite an album.
I hink their first four albums (Boy, October, War and The Unforgettable Fire) are the best run of career-starting albums of all time. Then Live Aid happened and Bono disappeared in a puff of self importance.
I loved their early stuff and The Unforgettable Fire is quite haunting. New Years Day is also one of my favourite songs from them. I began to like With or Without You after it was played over a scene in Friends.
Give me the first 4 of KOL any day.

He's quite happy to take the money though
