I woke up with it and expected it would go away after awhile but it has not, many hours later

What underlying conditions do you suffer and what medications are you taking?

I do not have any underlying conditions apart from a very depressed mood and am taking several tablets but have been doing so for awhile so nothing new. I am at risk of diabetes (on the borderline of risk.) I am taking escitilopram and mirtazapine for mood and quetiapine for whatever.

Nothing sinister comes to mind, except perhaps that you slept "awkwardly".

Monitor the situation for the next few weeks.

Thank you Sqad. No it is not that I slept awkwardly as that was my first guess and I spent some time trying to rectify this. It is still as bad and affects the fingertips of my lefthand starting with the index finger and slightly less at my little fingertip.
It could be early Carpal Tunnel Syndrome where the median nerve is compressed at the wrist.

My advice remains the same......watch and wait.

Stargazer. If Sqad is correct...and he usually is... have a look at Carpal Tunnel Massage and Carpal Tunnel stretching.
I developed this after many years of massaging. Rather than surgery I do both of the above. Won't cure it but certainly helps enormously.
Stargazer, I suffer from anxiety and depression and can assure you these symptoms are quite usual in people like us. Dont worry. Easy to say, I realise
