Attachments To Emails

When I previously attached photos to emails as the photo appeared at the top of the email as a small picture, thumbnail, now for some reason only the name of the file appears in a box.
Is it possible to change back to seeing them as a thumbnail please?

I use the German Deutsche Telekom, 't-online' though I have gmail accounts which I don't often use.
