Pdf Reader For Ipad

I have had to download my bank statements and they downloaded in pdf form. I was shocked that the iPad can't read them and need to download a PDF reader - unless you know different!

So all recommendations / advice welcome. I don't mind being told I've missed the obvious thing that is already on my iPad

My iPhone & iPad open my bank and credit card statements automatically whether I access them directly or open them from Files. What IOS are you on?

Foxit is a very popular choice with AB members on PCs, so it might be worth giving their iOS app a try. The full version ($10.99 per year) is a PDF editor but you can use it just as a PDF viewer for free:

The PDF format was invented by Adobe, so their own app could also be worth considering. (I don't recommend the PC version, as it's big and clunky, but the iOS app might be better):

Thanks both, I'll try Foxit. Am I right that my iPad can't open pdfs without downloading 3rd party software?

It's possible, Barry, that Fitzer might have an office suite app on his devices, that comes with the ability to handle PDFs.

Nope, no add on software to display pdfs (as far as I am aware) plus you can use the Books app to read bigger pdfs https://www.wikihow.com/Read-PDFs-on-an-iPad?amp=1
I’ve read statements from the Halifax, Barclaycard, John Lewis and others.

I can open PDF attachments on my iPad without any add-ons

^^^ Odd. Apart from 'Books' (which can be used as a PDF reader, as per Fitzer's link), there's no specific PDF reader app shown in the list here:

I suspect though that Fitzer and Ichkeria are using Safari to view PDF files (or possibly Mail, which can also handle the format).

Strange thing. I need to download statements from 2 bank accounts. TSB opened straightaway but Santander would not open until I installed Foxit.
Maybe TSB uses a different format. Santander are definitely pdf

Fitzer, where do you save your bank statements?

I either open them direct from the webpage or if I do need to save them I download to iCloud, checking their properties they show as just ‘pdf document’ (I do a long hold & get info for this)

The Santander statements open just fine in the app, Fitzer. So when you've downloaded them to iCloud what do you use to open them?

I just tap them and they open in Files, it seems to have readers built in for most things as it will display word & excel documents the same way.

Thanks again, Fitzer. I have the iPad Pro and pdfs just would not open in Files for me until I installed Foxit.
