I’ve just tidied up in the garden and done a big shop. I’m hoping we don’t lose power in the storm tomorrow but calor gas is at the ready.

Is definitely the calm before the storm this afternoon. Stay safe everyone.

My friend was due to fly from Trieste to Stansted, landing tomorrow afternoon. She's now decided against it for some reason! I can't think of much that I need to tie down here (except the cats perhaps!) but I'm keeping my phone and laptop well-charged and I've checked the batteries in my torches and radios, just in case we get a power cut.

Gness - I'll come round and join you as Dave is so reluctant. We can always leave him to deal with any emergencies whilst we drink under the table.
You wimps. I'll be out in my articulated lorry. Just another normal day.

Well one ABer reckons you are all obviously panicking !

Best of luck Hopkirk
Not a job I would relish in those conditions
You'll be welcome, LadyJ...and it's a good strong table.

This wimp says you take care, Hoppy!
You would be surprised how little effect the wind has (until you blow over)
all quiet here and fortunately, I look to the southeast and have the building and a bank behind me.
I'm going to a funeral tomorrow and it's a 20 minute walk from church to the pub. I might get a bit wet.

Just another day for you Hopkirk, but a slower one I guess taking it easy over the bridges. What's the worst you've had on the road?
And don't say women drivers, Hoppy! ;-)
I have been similarly occupied this afternoon, Maydup. Big shop, tidying the garden, moved the big glass-topped patio table and chairs into the end of the garage, put the rubbish out for tomorrow's collection (hopefully, though goodness knows where it will end up), disconnected the dead battery from one of the cars and put it on charge. Also charged up an inspection light as well as mobiles and power packs.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best!

I remember the days when we made sure we had enough candles and my Gran's tilly lamp had enough metholated spirits to see us through blackouts (normally caused by snow) Nowadays I need to make sure my cellphone is fully charged.
Where are you I thought the storm was mainly in the uk surely it wo t be that bad

I still like to have some chunky candles at the ready as well as a phone, a well charged torch and LED work light, and a battery operated headlamp for getting around the house or garden in a power cut.
