what is this film?

I cant remember the name of this film i saw, its about a female - possibly secret agent - during the war, who gets captured and tortured, has her toenails pulled out etc.

I remember a scene where she is being held captive and her friend (a man) is singing in the courtyard outside (he is also being held) to get her attention and she breaks the window and shouts out to him.

It is similar to Carve Her Name with Pride but it isn't it, any one know what it could be?
