I call it sport.
As ever with these bouts I am always sceptical about the level of hate

These two do appear to have a genuine dislike for each other though

Nothing like Benn v Eubank way back when but still

Probably turn out to be handbags and smiles and handshakes at the conclusion or maybe a draw to trigger another lucrative rematch ?
Spoiler alert :

Brook stopped Khan in the 6th
Not the knockouts both promised
Is that career over for Khan ? It ought to be
If you're going to hit someone hard enough and often enough that you hurt him so badly that he can't stand and be hit any more, or you achieve the advised aim of what you are doing, which is to concuss him into unconsciousness, with permanent brain damage or death a viable possibility then it probably helps if you are not people who are going to be going out for an evening any time soon.

The idea that boxers should have anything other than a desire to beat their opponent senseless, seems rather against the spirit of the entire enterprise.

I always saw that as the reason why Frank Bruno was never more successful, he is simply too nice to be a boxer at that level.

It was patently obvious to anyone watching that Bruno wanted to box Tyson fair and square, while Tyson's only intent was to get as close to killing Bruno as was legally possible, and illegally, if he could get away with it.

So the idea that these two won't be going fishing in the near future, shouldn't surprise anyone in the slightest.

How unbalanced would you have to be to stand and hurt even a casual acquaintance, never mind a friend, until he was unconscious or badly hurt.

Boxes not liking each other?

Surely that's the general idea!
And the two men who allegedly hate each other embrace like old friends at the end of the fight.

It's entertainment. It's spectacle. It's sport.

They are grown men who have trained all their adults life. Nobody's forcing them to do it.
It would have been a knockout if the ref hadn't stepped in.
Result.
All this pre-bout vitriol is just to put bums on seats.
No it isn't, they do not like each other, that doesn't mean they don't respect each other.
I hope Amir now packs it in.
Roy, they most certainly do not respect each other. Years and years of bad mouthing prove that.
However, i was speaking in general terms, not just about this particular bout.
so you don't like boxing canary, why the long diatribe?
//It's entertainment. It's spectacle. It's sport.//

Depends on what entertains you .

it certainly is a spectacle

Depends on your definition of sport

I can't see the attraction of two people punching each other with the intent purpose of incapacitation
Nobodys forcing them to do it. It's entirely up to them, nothing to do with anyone else.
What has no one mentioned? The fact it was a damn good payday for both men.
