I wannt to edit pdf's. I can pay a subscription to adobe acrobat but I would prefer to purchase a program or app with a single payment. Does this exist?

Many years ago I purchased a pdf to Word converter program – it was not that good with all sorts of formatting issues, but it did create a correct representation of the pdf document, I think I paid less than £10 for it.
You could seek similar, then change the converted Word document as required, and then pdf it.
