We have two 7 year old cats - and they are costing us a fortune !!! At the moment we are giving them Felix As Good As It Gets - but these are almost 4 a box.I reckon we are spending about 18 -20 on food alone ! I don't want to be miserly but can anybody suggest food which their cats like.I have today bought some tuna, but they don't seem over impressed with that ! They do like biscuits but I do not like to give them too many.
Any suggestions please ?

We have four cats....and I know the feeling! A lot of it is trial and error, but the pouches you are giving them are very expensive. We vary our cats' food continually as they get bored easily. Try the Whiskas pouches (standard variety in jelly, not the Oh So Meaty as those are dear), or the Felix foil trays. What about tinned food? That tends to be better value. Kit e Kat or Arthurs are good value and not the cheap lines that smell 'dodgy'. Biscuits are good for their teeth, make sure there is water available though as they can get a bit thirsty. We tend to serve a mixture of Hills Science plan biscuits with Whiskas ones.
Hope this is of some help. Ali

Many thanks - I'll certainly give some of those a try
"You spoil us, Mr Ambassador"! You're buying cat food in the most expensive form. What's wrong with tins?

They may be picky now, but if they are really hungry, they will eat almost anything.
have a chat with them, tell them that they are born killers and that feral cats survive by catching and killing things. Get them a picture book to clarify the situation.

My late monster ate sachets and Iams. But he once caught something - ear mites!
used to feed mine whiskas & felix but like you say got terribly expensive, so inbetween started buying the tesco variety 12 pouch packs, they have them in gravy & jelly, gradually introduced them to my two & now they won't have anything else! cheaper on my pocket as well, hope this helps.
my cat is also very fussy but i find that if you want to stick to pouches rather than tins try kit e kat pouches they are a little cheaper than felix a whiskas but my cat loves them as he dont really like tinned fod
My beautiful boys all enjoy eating Butchers 'Classic' cat food - it costs 2.09 for six tins.
It is additive free and full of real meat and not alot of cereal to bulk it out.
Don't be put off by the bargain price - it is top quality food.
I buy mine in either Tesco, Sainsburys ot Waitrose.

PS Mine used to eat Felix As Good As It Gets to - they had no problem switching to Classic.

Thank you all. We love our boys but when I reckoned up what we were spending on food it really shocked me.I think I will gradually wean them off the very expensive ones.I think I will stay with the Iams as they contain goodness.
our three have the own brand complete biscuits from our local pet shop. 14 for 15 kg and thats it. plenty of fresh water and thats all they need. they certainly eat it quick enough!!!
