Is This Something Occupational Health Help With?
1 Answers
Cut a long story short I have a nasal/sinus problem and can’t get to see my gp. Ive had chronic rhinitis for over a decade but over the past few weeks I have let like a fullness/tightness of my nasopharyngeal like something foreign is there, which is new.
I’ve been referred to ENT through a nurse from the practice. I came away from the appointment with this nurse feeling ashamed as she said it wasn’t urgent and I’d just have to deal with the issue for the rest of my life. I have to wait until may just for a telephone conversation with ENT
I work for the NHS and am am wearing masks all day which are not helping
If I go to occupational health about this do you think they could help? In what way? Are they able to refer me to their ENT within the hospital I work for? I don’t want to attend another place where I walk away feeling ashamed and angry at the lack of help

My guess is that if you simply tell your occupational health team that you're experiencing chronic rhinitis, they'll just point out that you're already on the waiting list for a consultation.
However if you adopt the approach of stressing that the condition is really getting you down, leading to you feeling evermore depressed, they might feel forced to get things moving in the interests of your mental health.
So, as I see it, this could be a time to 'really lay it on thick', in the hope of seeing some action!
