Is it possible/fairly easy to crop dashcam footage. I have saved the video to my computer but I want to just keep part of it. Thanks

What you want to do is incredibly easy in VLC. I would hope that you've already got it on your computer (as it's about a zillion times better than any Windows media player). Instructions:
1. Go to 'View' and place a tick alongside 'Advanced Controls'.
(That will give you a 'Record' button when you play a video).
2. Go to Tools > Preferences > Input/Codecs. In the 'Record directory or filename' section, click 'Browse' and choose a folder (such as 'Videos') where you'd like your edited clip to end up.
3. Play your video and, if necessary, move the time slider to just before where you want your clip to start.
4. When you reach the point where you want the clip to start, click the red 'Record' button. (Hint: It can be best to actually click just a second or so before your preferred start point, to allow your computer's processor to 'get itself into gear').
5. When you reach the point where you want the clip to end, either click the red button again (which will end your new recording but allow your original video to continue playing) or, possibly simpler, just click the black 'Stop' button.
Your edited clip will then be in the folder that you selected in Step 2.
