Negotiations aim to revive
a 2015 agreement between Iran and Western powers.
“Iran's peaceful nuclear cooperation should not be limited and affected by any sanctions, including Iran's peaceful cooperation with Russia and China," said Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh. He added a deal could be reached in "the shortest time" with US approval of Iran's stance. Iran is still waiting to receive an explanation from “diplomatic channels” on Russia’s demands.

The US wants to undermine the Russian energy assets by making sure Europe gets petrol and gas not from Russia.

So you will find it patches up its relations with countries such as Iran and Venezuela and lifts its sanctions on fuel exports. And the European energy shortages will be gapped and Russia’s economy will tank again.

Biden is about to announce a ban on US imports of Russian oil.

It would be nice to think Europe would follow suit.

The 2015 deal was regarded as a success for the Obama administration. Iran was twice certified to be in compliance, before Trump withdrew the US in 2017, promising he would re-negotiate a better deal. He never did.

Cut out Russia oil/gas and replace it with Iranian and Venezuela Oil/gas, and they throttle Russia and its economy.

Simon Coveney, the U.N. Security Council facilitator of the nuclear deal agreed in 2015 between Iran and major world powers, Ireland's foreign minister, and a facilitator of the talks, said if it " is not done "very soon" the window of opportunity will close".
