Possibly easier said than done, it seems!

He also said recently that those with pre-pay should load up with money now as they will then still be charged lower amounts until it runs out.

The website crashes are mentioned in my link, Chris.
I just submitted my readings with Octopus, who seem to be a very on -the-ball outfit; on the news a lot lately.
I tried ringing mine and had to wait twenty minutes for an answer. Gave young man my readings, then found out they weren't raising their prices til Saturday, so could have waited til tomorrow anyway. Still it got done.
Tried to get onto Shell to check my usage - no go. But I'm on a smart(ish) meter anyway.
Ocopus e-mail me once a month reminding me to submit readings and try their luky spin the wheel game to win a bit off my bill (I never win).
I click a link on the mail and go straight to their readings page (it seems to be in the Virgin Islands) and they are v efficient at whisking the money from my account without me having to faff about.
Just an idea but since folk are providing the figures, what's to stop folk exaggerating the reading (obviously not way too much) and then saving over the next month?
Yes, sound advice.
Thanks for that Ken. I was planning to top up just electric by a smallish amount...SSE. If it's a few weeks worth, it might make the transition a bit less painful as this is a higher spend month.
I read mine on 20th monthly. I presume that is close enough and no need to do it again now.
@ Atheist..totally agree. So pleased I moved to Octopus last October (just before gas prices started to rise) and got a two-year fix at just over £100 pm.
Just had an e-mail from them saying that I was £180 in credit and they would only need me to be £48 in credit at this time of year. Would I like the balance returned to my bank account?
Not a bad company at all!
Octopus send me an e-mail on the 14th every month. I submitted my readings today so they are not included at thehigher price on April 14th. I also added five units to each reading. I've never won the spin either, brother won £1 once.
