The child was not looking and we hooted and had stopped the car, but he was too excited by racing his bro on the other bicycle he didn't notice us and went right into my car, told the parents immediately. Thank fully the child is fine. Can we expect the parents to pay for the scratch of their child's bike on our car? it won't be worth for me to claim it through insurance. Thanks for your help.. a little shaken..

they are totaly responsible for all damage caused.my god this annoys me bleeding brats playing near a road and the innocent motorist is left with images and what could've beens whilst they wail for an icecream.hope you are ok and personally i would sue them for your trauma!!!!
A very similar thing happened to us once and the parents willingly paid for the repair. I think it probably depends on what sort of people they are, but most parents accept responsibility for their childrens' actions.

thanks guys!!
You miserable sods, moaning about a scratch on your car. Why dont you put it down as one of those things and get a life!
I suppose kids should be banned from playing on their bikes so you can reclaim the streets?
frank I suppose you might have posted a different answer if the child had been injured or worse. Sounds to me that marryme was on the ROAD at the time.
If a child had been injured or worse, I doubt that a topic titled 'scratch on bonnet from child on bike' would have come up. (A sad title for sure). And Schumis objections to brats and ice cream vans would not have been aired.
Children will play, sometimes on the roads, we cant stop that. To try and make a child or its parents responsible for what was an accident seems very trivial and ,ironically, childish.
my son done the same to a parked car on my cul de sac at the time he was 8. I seeked legal advice and because he was under ten i nor he was responsable....However i still paid for the damage as if it happened to me id expect the same courtesy.
