What it would be like to exist without a properly functioning sense of humour.

Never getting the joke or able to enjoy and contribute to the random nonsensical banter that often follows.

I know one or two people like that - they seem to function ok.
Question Author
The 'functioning' was about the sense of humour though, not the people.

I wouldn't mock the humourily disabled.

Well I would really.
that reminds me, whatever happened to our resident comedian ´Marvel´?
It helps life along, doesn't it Douglas? :-)..
I miss Marvel. She suddenly went off the radar. :-(
It's funny - i can't see the point of jokes
Dougie is looking for a bit of praise from his fellow abers. ?. Re his great SOH ,!!!!
Me, either, douglas.
Strangely enough I can think of a couple of regular contributors who seem to exhibit this lack.... :o)
The thing is, if you haven't got something, you don't know you haven't got it, so you amble along in blissful ignorance.

That works for people with a great sense of humour, a poor one, or none at all.
Andy; some people who don't have something do realise that they haven't got it - enough money to live a decent life, for instance.
Remember If you lose one sense, your other senses are enhanced.

That's why people with no sense of humour have an increased sense of self-importance
Am I Right ?
I'm Not Wrong !
Apparently Vladimir Putin has no sense of humour.
It is odd - I have a friend who never gets the joke. If I tell him a joke I have to preface it with the word "joke". He doesn't seem to get irony or sarcasm either.

(but he does find "Mrs Brown's Boys" funny - which I don't at all!)
Dave, I have a friend like that. Never gets anything I say that I think is funny or a joke, yet she loves Mrs Browns Boys and even went to see the show when it was doing the rounds.:-(
Must admit I only have 1 friend whose sense of humour is exactly the same as mine and this is one of the reasons we've been friends since our first day of school.
By the way Doug, you always make me laugh, I definitely get your sense of humour.
Atheist - // Andy; some people who don't have something do realise that they haven't got it - enough money to live a decent life, for instance. //

Clearly that is not what I am talking about.

Not having a sense of humour is easy to live with, and not notice, having no is not.

I am fully aware of that, and I sure that you knew I would be, which makes your point somewhat redundant.
Well said. Who wants to live in a sensible world ?.
