Prince Andrew 'Wants To Return To Public Life'

According to the Daily Mail, anyway -

To me, the significant part of the piece is the assertion that Andrew was 'taken aback' by the hostility to his social media post about the anniversary of the Falklands War.
It clearly shows that, by signing it with the 'HRH' title, which he is no longer entitled to use, he still fails to grasp the notion that people even think for a moment that he anything other than blameless and fabulous, in equal measure.
I suspect Charles will be firmly closing the door on any intended 'comeback' when he assumes the monarchy - he seems not to suffer the same 'blind spot' about his brother that appears to drive the Queen's perception of her 'favourite' son.

I entirely agree - he thinks money is the answer to everything.
That little 'problem' has been paid off - back to normal then.
It's the utter absence of awareness that got him into the situation in the first place, and clearly he has learned nothing from it.

Friends say he 'has a lot still to give, if people will let him give ...'
Like what exactly?
The ability jet around the world pretending to be a 'trade envoy' and forming dodgy relationships with various despots and sex degenerates?
Rocking up at Lockerbie just after a passenger jet had landed on it and advising that it has only "impacted on the town in a small way ..."
Dragging the Royal Family name and reputation through the mud in the Queen's jubilee year trying to chicane around charges of sexual abuse, and then appearing on television to confirm that he had 'no regrets' about his friendship with a convicted sex offender?
If that's an example of the kind of thing he still has 'to give', I for one am happy to live without him anywhere near a position in public life.
The man is utterly unable to live in anything approaching reality.

andy, I'm told he was actually very good at this. He has his mother's knack of remembering people's names and faces and interests forever, and did indeed do a lot to foster business contacts here and abroad. //
I will grudgingly concede that he may have some skills in this area, although it was often pointed out that his meeting destinations were often assessed with their proximity to a good golf course factored in.
// However, he's an embarrassment. //
I don't think anyone could argue with that - well, anyone with a modicum of awareness anyway, which excludes the prince himself.

He retains his HRH but ‘will not use it in any official capacity’, according to the BBC. I’m not sure that a post on social media counts as an official capacity.
He’s an arrogant fool who handled the whole sorry saga disastrously. He should have come clean in the first place. In my opinion whatever he thinks he has to offer public life, the public can well do without.
