Am I Cross Contaminating While Cleaning?
6 Answers
I started a new cleaning job recently. What I was instructed to do is take the disinfectant and spray it on the rag than wipe the surface. What I did was just kept spraying on one side of the rag and using that side of the rag on a few tables then switch to the other side of the rag. Am I cross contaminating? We only have so many rags and if I switch to the other side of the rage for eatch table then I would run out of rags super fast. Do you think by wiping around on one table with the same side of the rag, then I am cross contaminating?

When I worked in a pub at the age of 18, tables were just wiped over with soapy water. (No disinfectant). An industrial floor polishing machine, which had just been used to polish the floor, was then lifted onto each table top to give it a bit of a shine. We never killed anyone and, to be perfectly honest, I'd happily eat in any bar or restaurant that was using similar practices today (as I'm certain many still do anyway). A few bugs ain't gonna kill you!
