can anyone help??? ... i have recently up graded the memory in my laptop... but since then my laptop closes down on its own saying along the line of this system has recovered from a serious error????? has this happened to anyone else???? cheers peachy

Hi there,

I am sorry to be the bearer of a bad experience and i am by no means an expert but.....

I had this problem about a month ago with the same type of laptop. It would just not go into windows whatever mode i slected from this black start up screen.

I phoned the Vaio help line to be told it was most probable that the hard drive was corrupted or something and it would cost �500 to repair.

My laptop was 4 years old so i resigned myself to the fact that it had given up on life and had to fork out for a new one.

As i said i am no expert, so there maybe someone more qualified able to help if you post this question in the technology area.

The new memory could be faulty. Go to http://www.memtest86.com/
download the utility (floppy disk or CDR required) and leave it running overnight. Otherwise these problems of restarting/blue screen of death are caused by out of date or wrong or corrupted drivers usually video or sound card drivers.
