Its been nearly 30 years since I worked as a painter and decorator.
(Though done a bit of cash in hand type jobs)
Out of touch with modern P&D techniques
A friend recently asked me if I would paint their kitchen cupboards
(Melomine)
Never painted over melomine before.
Any tips?
Have come across a Wilkinsons undercoat and paint for malomine but
never used it before.
Any one else done this?
Thanks

I guess I'd google paint manufacturers and then take a chance on what they claim is appropriate. If I was doing it for a paying customer, I'd be more careful. If it's just a friend, then clean it well, sand it well, apply it well, and hope you don't meet up in heaven.
I painted old melamine kitchen cabinets a few years ago. I used a mineral-based paint...water soluble. Just clean the surface, light sand if wanted. 2 coats plus a coat of water based varnish. It remained clean and unmarked for 2 years until I went over it with a chalk paint last year.
The brand of paint I used...250ml did 7 or 8 doors with some left over for a few stools.
