Getting Old?
I went into Birmingham last night for a concert. I got the train. A couple of comments. Travelling in at 6.30 / 7, some of the revellers were more drunk that I would have been at the end of the evening when I was their age. Clothes. The boys / men were dressed similar to how I would have, casual, trousers / jeans, shirt / T-shirt. The girls, and this isn't meant to be judgmental, were less "dress to impress" as "dress to show flesh". There were a lot of tatts on show, documenting their lives, dates, "Eat, pray, love" drivel. The concert was lovely, full of childhood nostalgia.

Gosh! My youth was nothing like that - or those of the respondents. A few friends and I went to seethe Beatles at Manchester (from Bradford area) - it was foggy and our journey there and back was anxious and clock-watching. No alcohol was consumed - mind you we were only 17. But we never did drink when going to see something, might have a drink in the bar at the interval and when we got home.
This was in the 1960s when drink, drugs and raves were supposed to be everywhere. No-one ever offered me any drugs either.

Myself and various friends never over indulged in alcohol. We had two or three drinks but not enough to embarrass ourselves. I didn’t see the point in squandering money that I had other uses for. Tattoos on women I find repulsive. Sleeve tattoos on men disgusting. I’ve never been to a concert or festival and like it that way. Brash, noisy, boozy environments are not for me, never have been.
I reckon I had a pretty good life from 16 to 24. Partied hard and I did drink, but I never got drunk. Lots of fun and quite a few gigs. There were drugs at some of the parties but I was never tempted. My parents were very tolerant because they partied too and had a good social life some of it a bit wild. It was the 60s, a great decade to be young. Best days of my life.
I am glad I am not young now.
But it's gon
