I wonder if he has read Matthew 19.24 which reads:-
‘It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.’

He’s bloody earned it!
I am sure that he has done more than anyone on here has for charity and to be frank you are just coming across a tad petty
Think the reverend cole missed the bit about the widows mite during his biblical studies..?
Seems a common theme!
My first house cost me 9.25 k, and was a complete dump. I did it up and then moved a couple of times, doing up each house in turn. I never did it to make money, just to give my kids space to have a bedroom. I have now ended up nearly a millionaire (not quite!)
I haven't become a professional religious person, and I find that sort of living rather distasteful.
//He’s bloody earned it! //
Yep!
He's earned it.
Helen said so.
I don’t understand what the OP is trying to get from this thread.

Vicar retiring is not news.
//Vicar retiring is not news//

Vicar retiring into million pound pad might be though!
I must have missed the part where earnings from earlier in life had to be handed back in order for a person to change career and work in a church.

I know I shoudn't get involved with nailit and his petty jealousy over his particular lot in life but too late, I have.

If at all possible could we be spared a rehash of your own holy roller adventures? Thanks.
I believe catholic priest used to give up their worldly goods upon taking the vows.
But Mr Cole is obviously not a catholic priest!

I feel for you mate,
I wouldnt want to get involved with me either ;-)
//But Mr Cole is obviously not a catholic priest!//
Its WELL known that he's an Anglican priest.
Yes so he doesn’t have to give up his worldly possessions!
Christ your obtuse!

Not as though you are interested but Acts Ch. 5.

Goodnight!
He's retiring! And getting grief before he's even moved. He was a priest for ten years...does what he did previously not count? Can't some people just be pleased for another human who's done well?
Nailit; once you start quoting holy scriptures you have lost a lot of credibility.
Just heard from friends that Richard had a lovely last service today. Attended by his many friends and people he's helped during his years of ministry.
I'm an atheist and believe folk can help others without being a Christian. However, that is how Richard chose to live his life for the past few years and he's done it well.
And no, Nailit, not all us atheists and unbelievers are freezing cold. I've been on my own since I was fifteen years old. I've worked hard to give myself a good life with one short blip I admit (not my fault). But I've done it and am now having a very good retirement with no money worries. You should try it instead of twittering rubbish.

Oh I'll add. He wasn't living in a near million pound house when he was a vicar.
Red Helen,
A priest in West Belfast built up a considerable property portfolio. It was made up of houses left to him by pious parishioners.
No vows of poverty for him.
This was 30 or 40 years ago.
