£150 Council Tax Energy Rebate

I have just received through the post a letter granting me this rebate, I have to take it to the post office and claim my money, is this the way they do do it now, seems odd, has anyone else claimed their rebate this way?

If you pay cash at a PayPoint, this is (perhaps) what happens.
Maybe your council is still in last century!

Not absolutely sure but I think some Councils are sending out rebate via Post Office vouchers to people who do not pay their Council Tax by DD,

Mine was paid into bank account. It will go straight back out again to pay my energy bill as I'm over £200 in debit!

Using Haringey Council's website as an example here:
"If you do not pay your Council Tax by Direct Debit, we will send you a voucher for £150 you can cash at any UK Post Office. We will send the vouchers between April and July."

How do you apply for this rebate?

i had to do the same, go to the post office.

i took along a passport and a utility bill plus the letter with a bar code on it as proof, easily done.

even tho I pay it by mega cheque in April of any year
I got it thro my bank account

obvious AB q: foo dat means..... if I dont pay CT I get the rebate?
No it doesnt ....they check it against payers

Thanks for all the advice, I do pay my council tax by DD and I did wonder why they didn't pay me direct to my bank, its not a great problem just a minor inconvenience of getting to a post office.
