Ever Seen Hailstones Like These?

They fell in the French Department of La Vienne last night. Brilliant local paper had photos and story today (unlike our local paper, which has gone down the pan since the Dimbleby's left.)

Yes, in Australia. Wife's nephew's car, among many others, was written off.

You'd expect they could write off people, by the size of them!

Yes when we lived in Switzerland.
Hail damage was part of car insurance cover.

Large hail stones was most common early summer months and when you were in some of the mountain villages.

Apparently lots of vineyard damage. Charentais melons weren't mentioned,but I bet a lot of them were hammered.

One chap I worked with had his car written off due to hail.
Several in same village were and insurance sent a team to work on claims.

Another source of damage was ‘Martins’.
A furry ferret looking animal.
They love rubber for some reason. Get one ‘under bonnet and they would chew up rubber pipes and cables.
Option was into garage for a car health check and repair.
Personally I saw small foot prints on windscreen of my car.
Second day I saw same for prints.
Later that day I noticed rubber car Ariel was chewed to bits.
I was lucky and it was a quick fix aka new car Ariel for £30.

Yes, many years ago, also in the south of France (place called Pau).
Holes in roofs, smashed conservatories and all the cars very badly damaged.

Oui! Aussi dans La Vienne! I'm trying to remember which year it was. There was a horrible storm that rolled and repeated around the valley. I knew people whose cars were dented - one chap's car was written off.
May have been 2010? Fields around us were completely flattened. We awoke to wet pillows - the chimney stack had been shifted - and there were still hailstones the size of marbles everywhere.
Not funny.
