do I cut down my spoon flower (Osteospermum) each year

These South African flowers are mostly offered as bedding plants in the UK and usuall treated as half hardy annuals and are mostly hybrids. However if you are in a mild area which is well sheltered, they will survive the winter if you give them some form of protection from the frost.
The only hardy one that I know of is Osteospermum jucundum which is at home in the herbacious border and will grow to approx 1ft (30cm) Good Luck Tbird+

I take cuttings at this time of yr from osteospermums it's really easy. Just break off 3 inch shoots where they meet the stem, pop them in water & very quickly they make roots. Pot them up & keep them watered on a cool windowsill, unless you have the luxury of a conservatory or warm greenhouse - free plants for next yr!

i just dead head them and let them grow, mine is a few years old now and is approx 3ft accross. i did cut one back and it recovered
