If the Tories come to see him as an electoral liability he'll be out the door long before the voters get a chance to reject him.
as I recall, on earlier occasions the conspirators found a "stalking horse" to test the strength of opposition - someone little known and with nothing to lose - didn't Thatcher go this way?
