The unit of Turkish currency is the Lira; and it has so drastically devalued over the years that there are currently over two million Lira to the Pound sterling. (The unit of Italian currency is also called the Lira, but there the plural is Lire, whereas in Turkey the word Lira seems to be used for both singular and plural.)
I have just got back from turkey the currency has changed to the NEW TURKISH LIRA its much easier to use then the old one ... you get ruffly 38p to 1 lira .. and its just under 4 for 10 lira .. hope that helps
