I’m on the basic broadband/telephone tariff from BT, does anyone know how much extra they charge for the Sport Channel?

Are you talking about BT's basic Home Essentials package that you can only get when in receipt of certain benefits?

Adding BT Sport, which gives you the five BT Sport channels, costs an extra £16 per month.

Adding Big Sport, which gives you the five BT Sport channels together with twelve Sky Sports channels and two Eurosport channels, costs an extra £41 per month.

^but can BT Sport be added to the (subsidised) BT Basics tariff, if indeed that is what OP has (and seemingly doesn't want to say!)

The way I read it, Mags was simply using the word 'basic' to mean that she's got bog standard BT Broadband (without any bolt-ons, such as BT Sport), rather than specifically referring to tariff known as 'BT Basics'.
