On domestic flights with BA, say Manchester-Gatwick, do they serve any food and drink? If so what? Alcoholic drinks given too if you ask?

generally speaking on internal flights you will get a fairly horrible sandwich (or something they term a breakfast croissant) and an iffy cup of tea or coffee. You can ask for alcoholic drinks and you will be charged for them. They will also take so long to get them for you that there is barely time to drink them. There i've had my rant about the decline in BA and I feel so much better. Thank you filthiestfis.
Is that only true on domestic BA flights cherryelm ? It really cant be worth serving food on such short flights.

We fly to Europe with BA quite regular and all drinks are free, including alcoholic. The food isnt that bad either, not brilliant but I've never had cause to complain. Maybe its different on domestic flights.

Well flying with BA in Europe you get a horrible sandwich from the all day deli range, usually egg mayo, or tuna and sweetcorn-absolutely vile! They dont ask you if you want an alcoholic drink but if you ask them for anyone of them like a gin and tonic they will give it to you.

Thing is, why do BA charge more than low cost carriers on these routes when all they give you is a crappy sandwich and cup of tea/coffee? Surely that cant be worth much!

Gone are the days when BA used to serve decent hot food. I would happily pay for it now if theyd get rid of the sandwiches! Anyone else agree?
on regional BA (connect) routes (european & domestic), you don't get anything complimentary at all. that may or may not be a blessing......

So BA is rubbish.
BA has never been able to serve drinkable tea or coffee. It`s a choice between a rock and a hard place. Disgusting brew! And now you can`t even take your own drinks with you (I always had sparkling mineral water with me, dont care much for the tepid tap water they have on board). Last time they had hardly finished serving (domestic flight) when they started clearing away!
But they have the best domestic connections so it'll be BA again next time!
Question Author
why do people pay so much more for BA when not long haul if all they end up getting is a crappy sarnie and drink and perhaps a couple more inches of space? I mean, isnt this crazy when there are so many cheaper alternative airlines these days for a fraction of the price?
A few years ago when I returned form Jersey, flying to Heathrow (flight time 45 - 50 mins) When the steward came round myself and the wife both asked for two drinks (Rum & Coke etc). We then asked for two more, to which the Steward gave us FOUR each !! So that he didn't have to tend to us again!! What a lad, I got off the flight slightly tipsy !! and the Steward was absolutely okay; I would imagine times have changed though.
