my right eye is completely bloodshot and is almost closed, its painful too, so i have been taking some pain killers as it's caused a bad headache. I just wondered who i should approach for help, as it's been like it a week now. Any thoughts?

Prudie - according to her question it has been like it for a week!
Oh sorry missed that bit :-( if I couldn't get out easily I'd still say call a GP or 111. At the very least I'd have ordered some chloramphenicol eye drops from Boots by now even if they didn't help.
For a week ? Really Emmie, please get to see a GP or Optician/Optometrist ASAP.
From your description emmie you don't need an Optician/Optomotrist/ GP/ Moorfields Hospital/ A&E as it is almost certainly viral conjunctivitis.

Take painkillers fornthe pain and by next Monday it will all be resolved.
personally id start with a pharmacist - they'll see you some chloramphenicol eye drops
I agree bednobs. Pharmacist are very highly trained and underused .

i saw the GP, who has prescribed some eyedrops, which weren't in stock in Boots yesterday, so will go back this afternoon, the GP suggested an eye infection, and that if it doesn't clear within 2 days to do a virtual consult with Moorfields eye hospital. She has kindly sent me a link to them so that is all i can do for now.
I wasn't going to go to A&E......

thanks for the input it's most helpful, welcome...
Thanks for the feedback emmie, it will soon settle.
How much are cabs in London these days Naomi? I don't want to know about Emmie's finances, but some people can't afford cabs.
Question Author
to get back and forward yesterday cost me 30 quid.
Do you have the DR IQ app?? I have it and it’s very handy - you can do online consultations, send photos etc and then your doctor will call you back that day.
MissTerious, I read emmie's posts. She takes cabs when she has to - as she did on this occasion.
Question Author
sqad, i have used the eyedrops to no avail, the eye is still bloodshot and painful, i plan to try and do a virtual phone call to Moorfields to see what they can suggest. The GP gave me the link to them so will try them later on today.
Question Author
i went to Moorfield on advice from GP, and was there most of the morning, inconclusive as to cause of bloodshot eye but inflammation was suggested. Could it be a cause of bad sinus infection??
