If you have the two budgies in the same cage I would say its going to lay an egg. They go to the bottom of the cage to do this.Put some kind of soft material in the bottom and see if it will sit on it. Hope this helps.
i am currently training to be a vet, and my personal diagnosis is that your budgie is suffering from an illness called vertigo i have experienced many cases of this during my traning and found a simple easy cure. if you put her food higher in the cage she has no choice but to get higher and over come her fear. i hope that can help you xx
There are hundreds of ailment that could cause your budgie to stay on the bottom of the cage. It is NOT vertigo or it will look unsteady and keep bending its head in a funny angle.
Two most often overlooked ailment with caged budgies: If your parent say it looks ok and it still has trouble getting to the perches it is probably grossly overweight. Find someone who has a digital kitchen scale and weigh it. It should not be much over 25grams.
The other 'ailment' is intestinal parasites. Yes, even a budgie in a cage can get worms etc. If the bird has watery droppings and eats a lot it may be that. Worming agents can be bought from your local pet shop.
