do you have to use a base paint first on newly plastered walls?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.If you are painting on full thickness plaster (not just a skim), make sure it is dry. I would leave it at least 2 months before painting. After that you can size the surface prior to painting. Size should be available at your local DIY/paint store, but be warned, it usually pongs a bit. (The size, not your local store!!)
