Adding Googlemail Acc. To Laptop, W10

Pleased with my new laptop, but having trouble as in OP. I go to 'add account', enter email address, all OK, I get sent a confirmation number to my mobile phone, enter it & it is accepted, but then every time I get a message: "Something went wrong, we couldn't find your settings.
ERROR CODE 0x8007O490"
There is no add blocker installed, any ideas appreciated.

Etch; Am I to do the above on my PC or the new laptop ? Because on the new laptop when I go to 'mail' I only get the offer to open an account.
I'm trying to share an account which is on the PC to the laptop.

Go to google search page, click on the apps on top right hand corner. It looks like a square with dots in it. Find the mail option, click on it. The log into your account and you should be able to use gmail.

It doesn't matter which machine you do it on, Khandro, as long as you use a web browser (e.g. Chrome, Edge or Firefox) to do it.

Wolf; when I do that on the laptop it only seems to be in order to create a completely new account not one of my existing ones :0(
When I enter the existing Gmail details it says already taken.

Update: Thanks for all your forbearance. It all got so complicated simply trying to get an existing email address onto the new laptop, so I have managed to put a completely new one onto it, - at least I can now send & receive emails when I'm on the move (I don't have a smart phone).

Perhaps at a later date I can get some techie to add the other address.
