It literally drives me round the bend.
Hopkirk, I'm literally, like, weeing myself!
Some time ago on Graham Norton's chat show, two of the guests were Will.i.am and Miriam Margolyes. Will.i.am could hardly string two words together without saying 'like' and Miriam kept pulling him up on it. It's not like, it is or it isn't. He was almost scared to speak and kept looking at her before talking without using 'like'. Then he said 'what if I want to say I like you?' Well, that's fine, you can say that.
Re the person who uses 'you know' a lot. You could try what i did with my boyfriend (now my husband of 54 years) when he would say something and then 'you know what I mean'. I got so fed up that I would say 'no, I don't know what you mean, can you explain?' it didn't take long for him to break the habit.
A word that Meghan Markle uses and probably other Americans is 'right' So, I went to the grocery store, right, and I was wondering about, right, drives me mad.
I don't say 'right '...I must get up to date with Yankee speak. I've been away too long.
Other Americans except pasta. :-) x
Ranvir Singh uses "You know" all the time. If I knew, I wouldnt be watching breakfast news to find out!!!!
