Us colonials down under have enjoyed "off peak" electricity rates for as long as I can recall.
peak times must be in the morning, when everyone is getting ready for work/school, and night time especially in winter when the heating has to go on.

Same in UK - Economy 7 for 7 hours at night, not sure if that's still current (no pun intended).
Er yes davebro compare to off peak rate.... but at peak rate times your still paying the same rate you'd pay if you had no metet
I had Economy 7 for over 30 years but during the last few years the difference between peak and off peak wasn't as great and I was paying more for peak rate than those that didn't have Economy 7.
That was with every energy company.
