That's what the whole play's about, Sandy. I've not read or seen it for many years but... Once they got their hands on his loot things changed somewhat of course and much, much for the worse.

I have had cause to use the line 'How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless child' and I've read your other post, so I think I understand where you are. It's very hard isn't it.

I've not read/seen Lear in full but if it was him & him alone wot wrote them plays Shakespeare musta been a friggin genius.

Yes, I agree. But one does wonder whether his two son-in-laws had a lot to do with it.

And it was partly Lear's own fault for treating Cordelia, the innocent but honest daughter, so badly.
