We are going to purchase a kiln.It will need 3 phase electrics . Does anyone know what this means and can this easily be installed into a domestic supply. If so is this a very expensive thing to do. Sorry don't know what 3 phase means although I have heard of it.

It is quite likely you will need the supply to your house re-laying, from the nearest 3-phase source. I would imagine this would be quite pricey, yes, though it depends upon yuor actual circumstances.

When electricity is generated it has 3 phases. These 3 phases (and a neutral) are fed to industrial supplies. Domestic supplies use only 1 of these phases and the neutral. Generally all 3 phases are in the road, and each phase is used alternately for the supply of each house in the street.
That said, I agree with the previous answer that while it may be possible to have all three phases brought ino your house, the electricity company will want a good reason and a large amount of money. They will probably put you on a business tariff for your supply. Probably best to steer clear of this particular kiln and get a regular singe phase one.
