My mother and I have booked on to a cruise of the Norwegian fjords for the end of May 07. Can anybody tell me what the weather/temperature will be like so that I know what sort of clothes to pack for when we leave the ship on excursions. Will it be like an early English spring?

You wouldn't be far off with that description. Pleasant in the warmth of the sun but otherwise you'll need a light coat.

So a fleece should suffice. Thanks Dassie.
Go for the layered look! A lot will depend on how far north you are going, but be prepeared for it to be quite cool, especially if the excursions take you up into the mountains. I would not rely on just a fleece, you should also be prepared for it to be wet. We shall be taking hat and gloves along with waterproof outer coats, and we`re not going until early July. It`s better to be prepared and not use things than regret it once you are there.

Good idea Snowy Owl, especially as going on a ship I don't have to worry about baggage allowance.
a favourite story in Bergen:

a boy meets passengers off a plane from oslo at bergen airport. "carry your bags mister?" he says to a businessman. "yes", says the man, "does it ever stop raining in bergen?"
"I don't know" says the boy, "I'm only 15".

Thanks a lot mushroom25 :-). In fact I am visiting Bergen, also Geiranger, Olden & Eidfjord. At Olden I have the choice of visiting the Kjendal or Jostedalsbreen Glaciers which, in your opinion, should I go for?
Hi Ed - slightly off the subject but have you tried out www.cruisecritic.com and then clicked on the link at the top that says Boards. Then click on the link for your cruiseline [you don't say who you are going with..] and here you will find lots of questions and answers about the ship.
Further down the Boards page there will be a section called Ports of Call and in the Europe section you can find what people have said about your ports. You have to become a member [its free] with a logon to do searches or ask any questions - but it is the most valuable website I have ever found! Happy Cruising!

Thanks auntiebertie. Have registered on the site. Not found what I'm looking for yet as I'm at work and haven't got the time at the moment., but it looks promising.
