The Chase......does Libby think that it is her show?
Nerves I do understand how can a woman of her intellect become a vetinary surgeon?
My sympathy is wil Tom her fiancé with whom she is marrying next year.....she and her voice would do my head in.
I shall enjoy that on catch up, Sqad. I probably get the most wound up that I can get (at my age) when contestants miss such obvious answers. High BP is a curse ;)
I get hazlinny's post but I do share your pain, Sqad. I cannot comment on Libbie's prowess as a veterinary surgeon but I am grateful I am not a hamster. I thought she would not get past 8 in the final chase, so I was wrong there. Some answers she gave quickly were correct so I would think her nerves were more under control by that point. Nevertheless, she was not worth watching imo. Shaun Wallace never had it so easy!
You carry on posting, Sqad. 3 times daily and after food if it helps ;)
Grown ups can have different points of view and I always enjoy yours even if I don't agree - though I usually do!
Being a boring creature of habit, I always watch the Chase with my tea and have taped some old episodes on Challenge in case it isn't on. I have found that, in general, all the contestants get far more answers right in the cash builder round - quite a lot getting 10 right so I wonder if, these days, a lot of people just go on the programme because they are saddos and want their fifteen minutes of fame.
Ellie/22.25 Mon. Both were a long time ago in the 70s and 80s. First was Border TV's "Try for Ten" when contestants had to answer ten questions correctly in a row - I got to eight and received Premium Bonds. Second was "Crosswits" a crossword type quiz at Tyne/Tees TV, hosted by the late Barry Cryer and partnered by Colin Baker: opposition was a gent from Norwich and Bond girl Jenny Hanley. I just missed out on the final prize of a weekend in Vienna but came away with signed copies of the shorter Oxford dictionary and money with which I bought a carriage clock to remind me of the experience. I have had a filled-in application form for The Chase for ages but feel that my old brain could not now cope with the cash builder though I usually manage fine with the questions at the table. Kustard mentions "saddos" - not at all!! I went on these quiz shows "for fun" and money prizes were peanuts compared to the thousands dished out today
Good for you, Hazlinny. I always like to hear contestants say they have had a great day on any type of quiz show, surely that is what it is all about. I imagine that the crew do their best to calm peoples' nerves and give them dummy runs so when the cameras roll they are as good as they can be.
Thank you for replying Hazlinny and well done! I admire people who put themselves forward, I would love to but just wouldn't have the confidence. That's why I wouldn't criticise anyone for getting 'easy' questions wrong, it's all so easy at home
Choux/ Yes - studios were great - at Crosswits there was a lovely buffet laid on before going on air but I declined the vino as my head was already in a spin! Being in the make-up room was a treat - the new me! They were both fun days.
Yes Ellie - it is all so easy sitting at home with a cuppa and a choccy biccie shouting out the answers - I always say that those who get easy answers wrong have stayed too long in "the Green Room"!
Jim Bowen told a great story about one contestant who made the most of the complimentary bar and was off his face. They should have restricted it to after filming!
Sorry, Hazlinny. Didn't mean to cause offence. I'm not tarring everyone with the same brush but there ARE people who are so full of their own importance that they think they can do things way beyond their capabilities.
