Progress?

I’ve got a soup maker which takes 21 minutes to make delicious soups where I used to boil a bacon joint or even the bones then add lentils and veg
Then there’s the washing machine where I open a door ,throw the clothes in ,turn a dial and off it goes, whearas I used a twin tub which took all morning to do my washing
A dishwasher, rinse and set away , whereas it was filling a dish/ sink after a dinner especially to do the washing up
A remote control? You stay in your easy chair , point it at the TV and change programmes
The internet? I can speak to someone in Canada or Australia and even see them
Can you think of any other items that’s made our lives so much easier?

I would term progress with something like the covid vaccine. Washing machines have been around for years in different forms like many other items mentioned, it's just that they have found there way onto the domestic market. So is it progress or items of convenience?
Maybe they have been upgraded more so for the modern age. If you go back to the stone age a vessel / container that will hold water for any length of time would be a soup maker. Other vessels or even the same one could be a washing machine not that they were to fussy on washing their undies but de- haring animal skins. Hornes would be used to communicate with others. Who needs a toaster when you have an open fire. Just a few examples.
