is there any reason why you couldn't dissolve, say, cocodamol in stuff like lemonade, pop, or cordial etc?
can it ruin them or something?
Thanks :)

If such tablets are broken up (whether that be by an action like chewing or by dissolving them into a liquid), nearly all of the drug will enter the bloodstream almost immediately, meaning that you get too much straight away and not enough later on.
I read that especially for wee ones, juice or cordial can be added to the water to make it taste better.
Don't know what the official medical advice is about adding them to a fizzy drink
A good few year ago, I was very hungover and getting ready for work. Normally I would have taken Resolve tablets which contain paracetamol and glucose but of course, I had none.
However, I did have some Lucozade and effervescent paracetamol. I poured out a glass, dropped in two tablets and turnt away to make some toast.
I turnt back to see a thick orange foam pouring out the glass and running down the front of the washing machine. I just stood and watched it.
Never again.

I note that the NHS web page about Co-codamol says:
"Co-codamol comes as tablets and capsules. Swallow them whole with a drink of water"
So that would seem to suggest that the user shouldn't break them up in any way. However the same page then goes on to state:
"Co-codamol also comes as soluble tablets that dissolve in water to make a drink".

It therefore seems that it's acceptable to dissolve certain types of Co-codamol. I doubt that it would make any difference if one was to use squash or most types of fruit juice with such tablets, instead of just water. However it might be best to avoid grapefruit juice (which is known to interact with certain drugs) and hot drinks (which might cause the drug to enter one's system faster than intended).
