Attendance Allowance

A friend is trying to claim attendance allowance for looking after her son who has Emphysema .He has filled in a form for disability due to the above first in March and now 2 months ago when this new law came in in Scotland but has heard nothing . She says when he tries to phone he is in a long queue .Anyone any ideas to help resolve this I would be grateful .

I realise that Scotland has recently changed the name of the payment but I believe he has to be in receipt of an award and she must give care for at least 35 hours per week before she is considered.
Whoever makes the call has to be prepared to stay on the line for quite some time.
Her other option is to contact a local Welfare Rights Officer, usually listed in the directory or maybe a library could assist with contact details. Hope this helps.

Thank you furrpussy cat I will tell her .I can’t understand how when he says he has contacted them on line in March as he doesn’t get the disability amount he should and they still haven’t replied ! I am only going by what they tell me If it was me I would be hanging on the phone until I got an answer but didn’t know it was 0800 number. Thanks everyone.
