i have a 6 month old staff she is on the ninth day of her season and i came home from work yesterday nad she couldnt walk and she was most definatley not her usual happy bouncy pup. if a male got near her would she be like this?

Hi, mating would not cause these symptoms. Is there any chance she could have been near a male, if there is, get her to the vets now! She is way to young to have puppies of her own and the vet will give her a mis-alignment injection to end the pregnancy.

Hi, A friend of mine had a staff and she swelled up when in season and ended up having to be spade as I think she got a bad infection, so I would advise getting her to then vets. She might just not know what is happening to her. Hope all goes well.

get her to the vet quick... They can get a "pyometra" i think thats the spelling its an infection in the womb and its a killer......

Take her to the vet TODAY. Pyometra can be a fast killer and if your dog cannot stand and is off food and water etc. this indicates something is badly wrong. Pyometra is an infection of the womb and can be 'open' when you get a discharge or 'closed' where there is no discharge. This 'closed' one is the most dangerous as the womb fills with pus and can cause really fast, bad infection. An 'open' Pyo can be temporarily helped by antibiotics, until it is safe to spay the bitch. Sometimes they need to be spayed immediately to save their life.

She definately needs to be checked out by a vet today. Better to be safe than sorry.
