Yes I think it could. I know that this has happened with my hi fi yesterday actually. The electricity went of for a second and then when it came back on so did my hi fi... either that or your ghost came to visit!
Perhaps it has an 'alarm' setting so that it comes on at a certain time?

No, i checked that no alarm was set on it and it wasn't, the electric didnt go off because when that happens, the clock setting flashes to be re-set, and also, before anyone says did something knock the remote, it was well out of my reach and nothing near it and even if it had, i tried to press it on in the position that the remote was and it didn't turn it on. I was lying in bed at the time at about half past midnight, just turned over when i saw a blue glow (it lights up blue) so i opened my eyes and the radio came on!!
Do you get shivers down your spine, of hear things that go bump in the night...?
If it's on a remote then I'm guessing it was on standby?

Most likely it'd either be a power surge on the grid or something like a fridge/freezer switching on/off which would cause an EMF* spike. Same thing that causes computers to freeze and kettles to boil by themselves.

If the hi-fi is on standby then it doesn't take much of a jolt for the electronics to see an "on" signal and boot it up.

Or you've got visitors... ;-)

*EMF -> Electro Magnetic Force.
