Gentlemen: Kindly note that the only really acceptable is full morning dress. However, if you do insist upon lowering the tone by wearing a lounge suit, please ensure that you wear a bow tie to go with it. Hats are, of course, obligatory (although those of the lower classes may wear flat caps)

Ladies: Here is the ideal opportunity to show to show off that fancy hat that you bought recently. (The fancier the better, of course). Parasols are naturally obligatory.

Everyone: Please ensure that you only proceed at a low and leisurely pace. After all, your day out is meant to be FUN!

>>> We used to go to the illuminations every year when the kids were young

I suspect that most youngsters these days, having been brought up on the special effects in CGI movies, wouldn't be that impressed with Blackpool Illuminations. I'm happy that seeing them is something that's been ticked off as done in my lifetime 'to do' list but I don't think that it would really have been any great loss if it hadn't.
They used to be good back in the day.
I especially liked to see the trams with the lights on, but every year that seemed to get less and less and the illuminations seemed to go down the pan.
It must be over 20 yrs since I was last there.

The 'steam loco' looked good last year, Barsel:
Probably, being brought up deep in the countryside,
I became fascinated by lights - I once spent half a day in Blackpool and said "never again" though I still did want to see the Illuminations. Made up for it by going to Reno and L.V.!

Those are definitely two of the places in the USA that I'd definitely NOT want to visit, Hazlinny!
That was 25 years ago Buenchico - probably I wouldn't want to go there today. Loved it because it was "so different" to my usual life back home.
Thanks for that Chris, they look great.
