After I’d finished the medication, I still had similar symptoms but tests were negative. It took me a few months to completely overcome it. The doctor suggested that it could have been a reaction to the antibiotics having an effect on the good bacteria in the gut.
My sympathies smurf. Mr.Sam was already suffering when we met in '74, ( he reckons he had had it since he was 12 +- ) it took years before we found a dr. who diagnosed HP . If memory serves me right it was in '96 or thereabouts when he took the devil antibiotics. He had a dreadful week with them, but has never looked back. So don't give up and good luck !
Smurf/ Once had an ulcer bleed and endoscopy did show Helicobacter Pylori - given Clarithromycin and Metronidazole, the latter which had to be stopped as giving me terrible hallucinations. When chatting to a nurse, she said nearly everyone in the Ward had it but they didn't know it as it wasn't causing them problems! Seems to be something which affects a lot of people but does not make them sick - hope Sqad agree!
