In February this year after a medical situation I was told to not drive for 6 months, whilst tests were done, so I voluntarily surrendered my license to DVLA. in those 6 months I’ve had MRI’s etc and absolutely nothing was found. It’s now been 8 months & I want to drive again, and reapply for my license.
I’ve gone DVLA website, and trying to get a straight answer! I’ve gone on webchat, filled in all my details, then I just get a message pop up saying ‘ sorry, no agents to take your chat’, I’ve tried ringing them, but after being on hold for god knows how long I get an automated voice saying sorry they are too busy to take my call, try again another time! I’ve tried emailing, and it takes my details & says it will email me, which I get an email - saying sorry bud due to the personal nature we cannot deal with by email - try ringing or webchat!! I’m getting nowhere!
Any bright ideas?? Do I need to be sent some forms? Can I just start driving? I dont know what to do next.

Why did you surrender your license ?
Question Author
I was at home one day and out of the blue I had some kind one faint/ seizure ( I have no memory of it). So OH called an ambulance, they took me in, had every test conceivable and nothing showed up anywhere, so they just put it down to ‘one of those things’.
'surrender' suggests you sent it back to DVLA is that right?
Question Author
Yes I sent it back.
This D1 form - can it be used for reapplying in this situation, and not just renewing?
Yes ,but why didn't you just refrain from driving for the six months .

Why give up your licence ?

Anyway TTT seems to have the answer for you

I can’t remember why I sent it back - someone must have told me to.
I agree with Bazile - you should not have sent it back as it is so hard to get it back again. Just refrained from driving as you did.
11:08 yes the page is headed:
"Reapply for a driving licence following a medical condition " - go through the how to reapply links and it should be clear...
it says:
"To reapply, fill in a D1 application form and the form for your medical condition, and send them to DVLA." - so you need a D1 + a form for your medical condition, there is a link to "select your medical condition" - should be doable from there.
Are you sure you are fit to drive with your back? Can you turn to look out of the rear window comfortably? Even using the foot pedals can put a strain on a painful lower back

TTT - but I don’t have a form for my condition as they decided there wasn’t one.
Barry, I agree, I just wanted to start the process of getting it back as I knew it would be long- winded.
"TTT - but I don’t have a form for my condition as they decided there wasn’t one. " - OK well order the D1 pack and follow the guidance notes. Send and explanatory note with it. They'll either issue you licence or tell you what you need to do beyond that. On the D1 there is a section that says "renew" just above the organ donation box. Tick "for medical reasons".

Ahh brilliant - thanks TTT.
BA?
I recollect that people have done it here
( clawed back their licence)
so they should be able to tell you
yes, JJ I said - I do not wish to have advice on driving licence, as I now employ someone to driv eme....
how did you get it back last time, when you had that other seizure? Just do the same thing?
