Doing voluntary work in a Charity bookshop is fun, a couple of weeks ago I was flicking through an art book and found paintings that a one-year-old Gorilla could better any day.
I just decided that I was an imbecile when it came to art.
Art is in the eye of the beholder, if you think it’s great, it’s great. If you think it’s rubbish, it’s rubbish.
I paint and some would think it’s been done by a gorilla, I don’t care, I enjoy doing it.
Some painters do stuff which mainstream would think is wonderful, I don’t. It doesn’t matter.
I’m also off to do Candy Crush...
I agree with Vagus. Art is in the eye of the beholder. But, my definition of art, whatever form it takes, is, that it is something which pleases its' creator. Have you ever done anything, then smiled because you were pleased with it? Doesn't have to be art though; could be anything. I think that is the same with art, having made or created it, it makes the artist smile. That's my definition of art.
Lots of good answers. I don't have a type of art that I like - if I look at something I either like it or not.
Some of the old British Rail posters were vibrant and happy. Some artists can create drawings that look as realistic as photographs.
