Recurrent Transactions Wording Appearing On Credit Card Statement
10 Answers
I bank with Santander and keep having one-off purchases appear as a 'Recurrent Transaction' on credit card statement which always gives me quite a fright. I thought at first it was a paypal problem so stopped using PayPal. But still having problems -eg one purchase of a clock from Dunelm, paid for at till, appeared as recurrent transaction and there are numerous others - about 30. When I ring bank they say I must have signed up for a subscription and to contact the company. But surely I shouldn't have to keep ringing company after company when the problem is surely with Santander. When the guy from bank went to speak to his manager he finally came back and said its nothing to worry about but it did not reassure me as to why this keeps happening. Has anyone else had same problem? Is it really nothing to worry about?

If you use a mobile banking app, or if you simply use web-based online banking, you should be able to view a list of recurring card payments. For example, in my Barclays app, I go to my account, click on 'Manage' and then scroll down to 'Recurring card payments'. If you've got something similar, and you see something listed there which you think shouldn't be, you...

My santander creditcard statements online (not checked my print one's) show several Recurrent transactions but they allso say who there payed to, do yours not say.... there all online transactions or ones I done over the phone- eg to an online class I do and may monthly, or to a one off internet purchase. And monthly paypal and ebay fees
30 a month for you seems weird though. Ask the bank to give you details of the payments and ask them to stop them if your not sure
The bank statement should say

If nothing out of the ordinary is shown though, then you've got nothing to worry about. (It'll just be something to do with the way that payments get shown on your statement).

Benchico's post got me to check my Santander app and on the app statements all the payments shown as 'recurring payment' on my online bank system are not shown as recurring on my app- there showing the actual name of the person /company I paid.
So it might just be the way there showing on your statement. If you got the app check on there, if do'nt have the App download it and check

Thank you all for all your answers. I will give Buen's ideas a go and search to see if I have any actual recurring payments listed. I certainly shouldn't have - as why would anyone agree to recurring payments on a credit card? - from current account maybe as in regular bills, subscriptions. Maybe it is just badly chosen wording and nothing to worry about. Thanks again all!! X
